ABOUT THE PLANT

Cannabis is the term that includes both “hemp” and “marijuana”. “Hemp” is often referred to as the non-psychoactive cannabis plant. “Marijuana” is often referred to as the psychoactive cannabis plant.

Both THC and CBD are active chemical compounds known as cannabinoids that are derived from the cannabis plant. THC gets you high, and CBD does not. CBD can actually dampen the effects of THC, so if you’re looking for the medical benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects, try one of our high CBD, low THC options.

Terpenes are aromatic compounds. They’re what give all plants their smell, including the earthy aromas of cannabis. They’re thought to add to the “entourage effect,” a theory that all of the compounds in cannabis work better together than separately.

The Endocannabinoid System, or ECS, is a system every vertebrate on the planet has. It consists of cannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes that work together to keep your body in homeostasis and metabolic balance.

This is a complicated one. It depends on your preference, your tolerance level, your body chemistry, and what type of experience you’re looking for. If you find smoking too harsh but enjoy the immediate effects, try vaping. If you want a body high (an overall relaxing feeling) instead of a head high (an enhanced creative mind), consider an edible or beverage. However, if you go this route, know that the effects of edibles and beverages are delayed but hit harder than most other consumption methods… so we recommend trying a lower-dose edible or beverage first.

Talk to your budtender about why you’re shopping for cannabis and what your intentions are, then they’ll help you determine the best place to start. It may take some time and trial and error to find your favorite strain and consumption method, but that’s the fun part.

Cannabinoids like THC and CBD can degrade when exposed to heat and light, so be sure to store your purchases in a cool, dark, dry place. If you purchased edibles, store them in the fridge or freezer to keep them fresh for longer.
