🎷 Meet the Artists

BT ALC Big Band

Formed in 2011 by Brian Thomas and Alex Lee-Clark, this Boston-based ensemble melds big-band jazz traditions with deep funk rhythms inspired by the J.B.’s, Parliament-Funkadelic, and A Tribe Called Quest. Their dynamic live shows are known for both tight grooves and expansive, soulful solos.

Fred Wesley

A true funk pioneer, Fred Wesley’s trombone defined the sound of James Brown’s hits like “Say It Loud – I’m Black & I’m Proud” and “Mother Popcorn.” He also co-led James Brown’s J.B.’s and contributed to Parliament-Funkadelic’s iconic sound. Critics regard him as one of the most influential instrumental arrangers in funk history  . He’s reunited with BT ALC for a special live album release performance this month.
